5 Fifteen-minute programs

This 5 part beginners' series uses a lively magazine
format. It shows a young people's view of the city through the eyes of two teenage
Panisian presenters, Jean and Sirine, who take us on a whirlwind tour of Paris meeting
their friends, introducing their lifestyle and interests. The programs cover a range of
topics including science, technology, and the creative arts.
Program Titles & Descriptions:
1. Paris - ville
internationale (14:31)
The International World. The two presenters, Jean and Sirine, introduce
themselves to the viewers. Functions: Getting to know Paris, Looking at la
francophonie, Talking about where one lives now and in the past, Talking about other
countries, Talking about holidays, tourism, the weather.
2. Paris - au jour le jour
(14:18)
Everyday Occupations. Jean waits impatiently for Sirine near the Gare St
Lazare. When she arrives, the discuss whether she is late for school as well.
Cut to vox-pops outside school. Functions: Talking about getting to school; Finding
out how urban transport systems have developed in Paris; Discussing advantages amd
disadvantabes of means of transport.
3. Paris - la banlieue et al
campagne (14:16)
The Environment, the world of work. This program opebs with a shot of Jean in
Montmarte. He stops to tell us about his quartier. Jean and Sirine talk about
where they live. They list the amenities in town and in Créteil. Functions:
Talking about where you live; Expressing opinion of geographical
surroundings; Discussing environmental issues.
4. Paris - art et technolgie
(14:16)
The world of communications; The World of imagination and creativity. After
the opening shots, Sirine goes off to visit Le Journal de Mickey and meets the
people who work on it. Functions: Talking about Art; Finding out how
things work; Discussing means of communication.
5. Paris - jeune
(14:29)
Personal and social life. Jean offers to buy Sirine a drink because he has just
received his pocket money. Sirine is surprised as she doesn't get he pocket money
until the end of the month. Functions: Talking about pocket money; Shopping;
Talking about sport and free time activities.
