España Viva

15 Twenty-five Minute Programs
Grade Level(s): 9 -12
Curriculum Area: Foreign Language/Spanish

Designed as a first-year Spanish course, each program contains two basic segments. The introduction teaches vocabulary and structure in context. The second segment features sub-titled documentary sequences exploring three contrasting areas: Santander, with its mountainous Atlantic coastline, bustling, lively Madrid; and Seville, the capital of flamenco. By drawing its language lessons from everyday life, the series teaches students how to communicate in common situations. They learn how to hold a simple personal conversation and also gain insights into the Spanish culture.
